Hello from Leitrim, Ireland! I’m here at Drumnadubber Studios to do a project with a great group of people.

”Sound artists Natalia Beylis (Ireland), Augustė Vickunaitė (Lithuania), and sound and textile artist Jan Anderzén (Finland) join weaver, researcher, and historian Dimitris Mitakos (Cyprus) for five days of shared artistic exploration this September — bringing together practices rooted in field recording, tape collage, improvisation, mask and character, and traditional weaving to find unexpected resonances across sound and textile, memory and material.”

Tomorrow, Sunday September 20th, at The Market Yard in Carrick On Shannon Tomutonttu, Natalia and Agustè will all perform solo sets and Dimitri will host this: “The people of Leitrim are invited to be introduced and partake in two Cypriot weaving traditions. The first one is the weaving of the peftzia, rags made out of scrap fabric. The second is the Cypriot custom of paraklesis, the petition to a saint for healing, strength and help getting through distressing times.”

We will work together on a one-off collaborative performance taking place at The Dock in Carrick on Shannon on September 23rd.

My sound/video piece MKE from last year is part of The Kuopio Media Art Festival and can be experienced at Kuopio Art Museum KUMMA until October 25th.
